Housing Not Handcuffs Rally -Monday, April 22, from 3-4PM
Next Monday, April 22, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Johnson v. Grants Pass to decide whether it’s cruel and unusual punishment to penalize people for sleeping outside when they have nowhere else to go.
But we already know the truth: it is cruel—and ineffective—to criminalize homelessness, especially when shelters are full and there is not enough housing.
Join Louisville groups for a rally on Monday, April 22 from 3-4pm at the park in front of the Mazzoli Federal Building. We’ll learn about Gloria Johnson’s case from an attorney who filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court; hear from federal, state, and local elected officials and unhoused people; and raise our voices for #HousingNotHandcuffs at all levels of government.
To get on our event email list with the most up-to-date info, please RSVP here—but feel free to come even without an RSVP.
The Coalition for the Homeless will provide #HousingNotHandcuffs signs for all in attendance. For more information, visit www.louhomeless.org/housing-not-handcuffs.
