St Leonard Gets Green in the Gym with New LEDs!
St Leonard was recently able to complete one of the items on our Capital Projects list that will have significant impact on our facility and our environmental footprint. After reviewing bids from several companies, we finally contracted with RLCLED Concepts to convert all lights in the gym to LEDs. This is projected to save a significant amount of money over the next several years as LEDs use a lot less energy to run, and provide excellent light. As you can see from the picture from the start of the project, even with only part of the lights converted to new fixtures, there is a huge difference in the light output between the old halogen bulbs and the new.
These lights make our already amazing gym an even more attractive location for schools to rent for practices and events. The proceeds from these rentals are reinvested into the Capital Projects fund for further infrastructure improvements to the campus and facilities when combined with the stewardship donations from our generous parishioners.
Special thanks goes out to Jason Volz for his professional insights on lighting, and to our Finance Committee members, Teresa Riggs and Tom Stocker, and of course to you, our generous parishioners, who donate to the Capital Projects fund.
