Communion Participation Mission
I recently let Archbishop Kurtz know that both of our parishes will be participating in the first phase of the worldwide Synod called by Pope Francis. I know our parish councils are excited about this process. Here in Louisville individual parishes will hold listening sessions this spring that will send reports back to the archdiocese. Part of those sessions will be listening to one another’s dreams of what we would like to see the church become in this century. We’ll also be dreaming about what we would like our parishes to become.
Last weekend we heard from Paul about the many gifts of the Spirit, and how they are all important. I raised the question of what the unique gift is that each of our parishes has been given. What gift do we each bring to our city that is different from what Holy Spirit brings or Holy Trinity brings? What is God trying to accomplish with us? It is the answer to that question that will shape what we do in coming years.
